What is a first massage appointment like?
When you come in for your first appointment, it will be necessary to fill out an information and short health history form. This will only take a few moments. Roxanne will then explain the type of massage therapy to be used. Depending on the technique you may or may not need to undress. For a full body Swedish type massage, most people undress completely, although, you may choose to wear underwear. You then are left in privacy to undress and lie on the table. You will cover up with soft sheet and blanket if necessary.

Before the treatment begins, you will be offered pillows or anything you need for your comfort. The room will be comfortably warm, with soft pleasant music playing in the background.

What kind of oils are used during a massage?
A light oil is used which is non-greasy and good for your skin. Aromatherapy is sometimes employed with high quality essential oils. Please inform us if you have any allergies to any topical oil or lotion.

What should I do during a massage?
RELAX!!!! Sometimes easier said than done. Some people like to talk with the therapist as the massage begins. After a few minutes, the nervous system slows down and most clients enter a state of "twilight sleep". Please let us know of any discomfort or questions during the treatment.

The desire to sigh or take a long slow breath is a sign that you are relaxing, so enjoy and let the relaxation continue. You may even fall asleep or drift in and out of sleep during the treatment. This is your special time so enjoy and relax.

What should I expect afterwards?
Upon completion of your massage, Roxanne will leave the room and allow you to reorient yourself . When you feel ready, get up slowly and dress.

After a session, people feel very relaxed and sleepy for a short time. Generally, this wears off and a feeling of increased energy and well being sets in. Sometimes you may not experience dramatic results right away. Watch for changes over the next several days, such as, pain relief, reduced stress, increase range of motion.

It is necessary to drink water after a treatment, as massage breaks up toxins in the body and extra water will help flush them out of the system. Additional recommendations may be given on a personal note as well.
